Why this site exists, what it is trying to be, and what it deliberately is not.
There is no shortage of places to find a hotel in America. There is a shortage of places that will tell you which twelve are worth looking at.
CharmingHotelsUSA is a curated hotel discovery guide for the United States. We take a full property dataset, cut it down on guest data, then look for the properties with a genuine reason to be remembered - setting, scale, design, story, or an unusually strong combination of the two.
What we mean by charming
Charming is not an official hotel category, which is exactly why it is worth defining carefully. For us a charming hotel has at least one clear reason somebody might still describe it a year later. That can be the place, the building, the scale, the setting or the view. It is not a price bracket - an excellent $160 inn is far more likely to qualify than a forgettable $600 hotel.
What this site is not
- Not a booking engine. You book on Booking.com; we help you decide what to book.
- Not a review site. We do not collect guest reviews and we do not write fake ones.
- Not complete. Being selective is the entire product. Roughly 97% of US properties in our source data never appear here.
- Not a travel diary. We have not stayed in these hotels and we never write as though we have.
How we are funded

Where our authority actually comes from
Not from a fictional team of inspectors touring America. It comes from a published method, a source you can check, criteria printed on every page, and a willingness to say “we cannot verify this yet” on pages where a competitor would simply make something up.
