Historic hotels in Boston

Historic hotels in Boston, Massachusetts: what our data can and cannot verify about building age, and the independent properties most likely to qualify.

  • Verification pending

Boston is walkable in a way few American cities are, so the neighborhood matters more than the distance. Back Bay and Beacon Hill hold the brownstones and the Public Garden; the Seaport is newer and built out; Cambridge across the river runs academic and quieter. Qualifying inventory inside the city is comparatively small, which keeps this shortlist short.

What we cannot do is tell you which of these buildings is old. Our export has no construction year or heritage listing, so this page shows the independent inns, B&Bs and small hotels in Boston - the property types most likely to occupy older buildings - and is honest about the rest.

Why this page is not in our search index yet

Our source export carries guest ratings, property type, star class, amenities and coordinates - but not construction year, architect or heritage listing. We can prove that a property sits inside a designated historic district using its coordinates, and those pages are indexed. We cannot yet prove that an individual building is historic.

Rather than guess, we have left this page out of our sitemap and marked it noindex until the underlying field is verified property by property. The stays below are real selections from our collection and every claim on this page comes from data we can show. Read our editorial policy.

27 qualifying stays reviewed. 12 made this shortlist.

We start from every hotel, inn, resort, lodge and bed & breakfast in our United States dataset that scores 8.5 or higher on Booking.com with at least 100 guest reviews. For this page we then looked only at properties in Boston. See how we select hotels.
