New Orleans is one of the few American cities where the building itself is usually the reason to book. The French Quarter puts you in Creole townhouses and courtyards but also in the noise; the Garden District and Lower Garden District trade that for streetcar access and quiet; the Marigny sits between the two. Courtyards, balconies and carriageways are the local signature.
