Boutique hotels in Palm Springs

Independent boutique hotels in Palm Springs, California. We publish what qualifies as boutique and the reason behind each pick.

  • Independent only
  • 42 qualifying stays in Palm Springs

Boutique in Palm Springs means the same thing it means everywhere else on this site: independently operated, four stars or fewer, running as a hotel, inn or B&B, with a guest score of 8.7 or higher. No chain soft brands, however boutique the marketing.

Palm Springs is low-rise, mid-century and built around courtyards. The San Jacinto mountains sit directly behind the town, so mountain views are a matter of which way the property faces rather than how high it is. Pools here are not an amenity, they are the layout - most of the classic small hotels are organised around one.

What qualifies for this list

  • Independent operator, no chain or soft-brand match
  • Hotel, inn or bed & breakfast
  • Four stars or fewer
  • Guest score 8.7+ with 100+ reviews

42 qualifying stays reviewed. 12 made this shortlist.

We start from every hotel, inn, resort, lodge and bed & breakfast in our United States dataset that scores 8.5 or higher on Booking.com with at least 100 guest reviews. For this page we then looked only at properties in Palm Springs. See how we select hotels.

Common questions

How many hotels in Palm Springs made this shortlist?

18 properties cleared our criteria and 12 are shown above, ranked by Charming Score. The highest-scoring is Les Cactus at 9.4, with a 9.5 guest rating from 726 Booking.com reviews.

What do these stays cost?

What is the Charming Score?

It is our own 0-10 selection score, not a guest rating. It combines the Booking.com guest score (45%), review volume (20%), property class (10%), amenity fit (10%), independence and property character (10%) and price positioning (5%). The full method is published on the Charming Score page.

Have you stayed at these hotels?

No, and we do not pretend otherwise. Our selections come from guest data, property facts and location, not from first-hand visits. Our editorial policy explains exactly what we do and do not claim.
